I am a licensed clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist, and certified sex therapist with over thirty years of experience, specializing in areas such as male and female sexual health, ob/gyn related issues, e.g. infertility, pregnancy/newborn loss, PMS, PMDD, and menopause. In addition, I work with cancer patients, previvors, survivors, and caregivers. Interwoven throughout are emotional reactions such as grief, depression and anxiety.

My work with couples focuses on helping create intimacy in and out of the bedroom, improving communication and trust, and strengthening each individual, as well as the couple relationship. I see gay and lesbian individuals and couples, as well as heterosexual clients, and have worked with a great many blended families, facilitated couples’ support groups for infertility and was co-leader of a women’s therapy group.

Due to the dual focus on the individual and couple, I am experienced and knowledgeable about dynamics which impact the functioning of both. My style is direct, yet nurturing, and I seek to provide a safe and supportive environment in which clients can talk comfortably about very personal and sometimes difficult to discuss subjects. When appropriate, I often use humor to create a comfort level for these conversations.

I am a licensed clinical social worker, licensed marriage and family therapist and certified sex therapist by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists. I am a member of AASECT and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. I hold a diplomate in clinical social work, and have been trained and certified in clinical hypnosis, family mediation and collaborative law. Prior to obtaining my license as a marriage and family therapist, I received two years of post-graduate training in marriage and family therapy at Southwest Family Institute in Dallas, Texas.

I have lectured to both mental health professionals and the general public on a wide variety of mental health topics, as well as led workshops for and given in-service training to mental health professionals. Pursuing my interest in helping couples deal with gender differences, I was trained by John Gray, Ph.D., author of “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus” for several years. I hosted a radio talk show, “Family Values”, which included interviews with guests such as Dr. Gray and Rob Becker, creator and star of “Defending the Caveman“, a one-man comedy show focusing on gender differences. I bring a great deal of experience from a variety of different sources to my work.

I am the author of the book First Me, Then You, Now Us available on Amazon.
